Arsenal could be without Mesut Ozil of their first match of 2018 at home to Chelsea.
The German international was ruled out of Sunday’s trip to The Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion with a knee injury , with suggestions that he is also a doubt to face Antonio Conte’s men at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
The German international has been in excellent form of late, and scored on three of his last four home league appearances – against Huddersfield, Newcastle and Liverpool.
Alex Iwobi came in for Ozil in what was Arsenal’s only change from the XI that started the 3-2 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Thursday.
Charles Watts – football.london ‘s Arsenal writer – tweeted: “Slight knee injury for Ozil – Doubt for Chelsea as well.”
The German is out of contract at the end of the season, and has been eyed by both Manchester United and Barcelona.
