Another spin-off based off a classic action film is being made in a T.V. series.
The 44-year-old actress was introduced to the movies franchise in the second installment acting as sister to Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett, played by Martin Lawrence. Gabrielle’s character, Special Agent Sydney “Syd” Burnett, is an undercover cop working with the Drug Enforcement Administration. Her character becomes romantically involved with Detective Lieutenant Mike Lowrey, played by Will Smith.
More details on the possible series are still under wraps but the publication notes that a few T.V. networks have shown a lot of interest and it will soon land a major deal. Gabrielle should have no problem hopping on the project since her popular BET series Being Mary Jane was recently cancelled and will end next year, with a special two-hour finale movie.
Earlier this month, Gabrielle opened up like never before after the release of her book, We’re Going To Need More Wine. The novel shares details about her private life, more specifically the sad news on the number of failed pregnancies her and her husband, Dwayne Wade, have gone through.
“I have had eight or nine miscarriages,” Gabrielle writes in the book. “For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant — I’ve either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle.” She adds that despite the tried efforts her and Dwayne remain full of love and are patiently waiting to meet the child they’ve dreamed of.
The book further explains how the age-old question ‘do you want to have kids?’ can be a hard one to answer. “A lot of people, especially people that have fertility issues, just say ‘no’ because that’s a lot easier than being honest about whatever is actually going on,” she tells People. “People mean so well, but they have no idea the harm or frustration it can cause.”
