Bayern Munich goalkeeper Sven Ulreich has signed a three-year contract extension at the Bundesliga leaders.
Sven Ulreich, who would have been out of contract in June, said he was thrilled to have penned a deal that will keep him in Munich until 2021, telling the club’s website: “I’m pleased that Bayern have put their faith in me and I can help this great club in the coming years to achieve its aims.”
Ulreich was in goal on Saturday as Bayern stayed 18 points clear with a 2-1 home win against Schalke and impressed watching Germany boss Joachim Low, with regular No 1 Manuel Neuer sidelined by a fractured foot.
“He is certainly in our field of vision and the games he has played have been very, very good”, Low said.
Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said: ”The last three years have shown that we can always rely on Sven Ulreich as a goalkeeper as well as a person.
”Especially this season he has played a big part in ensuring we have a big lead in the Bundesliga and also good chances in the Champions League and German Cup.”
