Borussia Dortmund’s Maximilian Philipp ruled out for several months with a knee injury

Borussia Dortmund will be without winger Maximilian Philipp for a number of months after the 23-year-old suffered a serious injury to his kneecap in the 1-1 draw at Bayer Leverkusen.

Starting as the central attacker at the BayArena in the absence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Germany U-21 international fell awkwardly in just the fifth minute of the game, and after several minutes’ treatment on the pitch was stretchered off to be replaced by Andre Schürrle.

Translation: Borussia Dortmund will be without Maximilian Philipp for several months. The attacker siffered a serious injury to his kneecap in Saturday’s Bundesliga game at Leverkusen. Milli, get well soon!

The summer signing from Freiburg had been a shining light for Dortmund this season with six goals in his 11 Bundesliga appearances so far, making him the club’s second-highest scorer after Aubameyang.
