Canadian rapper/freeskier Jon James McMurray has died after a stunt that involved him walking on the wing of a plane went wrong.
The Calgary-born 34-year-old, who fell to his death in British Columbia on Saturday, was described by his management team as a “beacon of light to follow your dreams.”
In a statement they said that the musician/athlete had trained “intensively” for the stunt.
“However, as Jon got further out onto the wing of the plane,” they explained, “it caused the small Cessna to go into a downward spiral that the pilot couldn’t correct.”
“Jon held onto the wing until it was too late, and by the time he let go, he didn’t have time to pull his [para]chute.
“He impacted and died instantly.”
They added that the plane and the pilot later landed safely.
Earlier this month, McMurray posted the below video of him rapping and performing a variety of other stunts.
