Champions League group-stage draw: Tottenham to face Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund

Tottenham have been handed a mouth-watering Champions League group stage draw alongside defending champions Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will welcome the European giants to Wembley Stadium, with Real duo Gareth Bale and Luka Modric set to face their former side twice before Christmas. APOEL Nicosia of Cyprus complete Group H.

Premier League champions Chelsea have been drawn against Atletico Madrid, with Roma and Qarabag making up Group C.

The Blues’ match-up with Atletico sees Diego Costa’s current employers pitted against the club he intends to join. However, the Chelsea striker, who is in an ongoing dispute with the club, cannot sign for Atletico until their transfer ban is lifted in January.

Manchester United have been handed a favourable draw in Group A alongside Portuguese champions Benfica, Swiss side Basel and Russian outfit CSKA Moscow.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool – in the group stage for the first time since 2014-15 – will play Spartak Moscow, Sevilla and Maribor in Group E.

Manchester City will face Shakhtar Donetsk, with Pep Guardiola’s side also up against Napoli and Feyenoord in Group F.

Meanwhile, Celtic have been drawn in a group with two European giants – Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as Anderlecht, await Brendan Rodgers’ men in Group B.

Last year’s runners-up Juventus will face Barcelona, with Olympiakos and Sporting CP also in Group D.
