It is a year full of milestones for one of hip-hop’s most celebrated producers.
The Miami impresario has dominated 2017 with his album Grateful and now, the RIAA is officially recognizing this greatness, having officially certified the record as platinum, as per its sales and adjusted streaming numbers.
The announcement was officially made on August 23rd, exactly two months after the album’s release. It also marks Khaled’s first platinum-selling album.
Much of the heavy lifting in terms of giving the album exposure goes to the three monstrous singles it has produced thus far: “Shining,” where he teamed with Jay-Z and Beyoncé, “I’m the One,” which features Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance The Rapper and Lil Wayne and his most recent chart-topper, “Wild Thoughts,” whose video featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller is the subject of a new contest Khaled is holding. Even better: the winner gets $10,000. Both “Wild Thoughts” and “I’m The One” have already been certified platinum as well.
Another part of the record’s charm is the deep-rooted involvement of Khaled’s son, Asahd. The tyke is listed as an executive producer and is currently enjoying one of the best lives of any toddler, anywhere. With over 1 million followers on Instagram and potentially the cutest mug in show business, his presence in the album’s cover art, promotional material and in his father’s many social media videos promoting the release goes a long way.
