Floyd Mayweather Reportedly Loses Battle To Have Ex’s Defamation Suit Thrown Out

Floyd Mayweather is no stranger to controversy. Over the course of his career, he’s faced tons of backlash for things he’s said or done, either publicly or behind closed doors. A few years a go, the boxer’s ex, Josie Harris, sued Floyd Mayweather for defamation for allegedly lying about his domestic abuse case and Harris’ mental state. He’s tried to have the case thrown out but it looks like the jury just get Harris the green light to proceed with her lawsuit.

According to TMZ, a panel of judges believe there’s a lot of evidence against Mayweather that proves he was lying during his Katie Couric interview in 2015 when he denied assaulting Harris. Mayweather was convicted of the crime and ultimately spent time behind bars because of it. During the interview, he said that he didn’t “kick, stomp and beat someone,” however, he did say that he restrained a woman on drugs, referring to his ex. However, Mayweather’s conviction came his son admitted to police that he saw his father “hitting and kicking” Harris.

One of the judges explained why the evidence works in Josie Harris’ favor.

“Since this evidence is unequivocally at odds with the assertion that Mayweather was simply restraining a drug-addled Harris by only twisting her arm, it may reasonably be inferred that Mayweather acted with malice or reckless disregard of the truth during the Couric interview.” He said.

As Josie Harris can move forward with her case against Floyd, he might mean that he has to cough up a whole lot of cash.
