Joachim Low has no intention of changing his successful methods as he’s once again placed a ban on sex, alcohol and social networking during the tournament.
Germany are aiming to become the first team to retain the title since the Brazil side of 1958 and 1962, and Low is ensuring even the most minute detail is given a sufficient amount of attention.
“The boys are very familiar with our behavioural rules,” he explained.
“They know what our ambitions are.
“Every player is a piece of a puzzle, the team is more important than individuals.”
Once the World Cup begins, the players of the German national team will be isolated, although there will be periods where they can spend time with their families.
Alcohol consumption isn’t completely prohibited according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, with a glass of wine before bed not forbidden, however there can be no drinking in excess.
Social networking is seen as unnecessary during the tournament and photos within the team hotel and dressing room are completely forbidden.
There is a fear that confidential tactical information may inadvertently leak out, there is also the small matter of trying to avoid unnecessary negative headlines, the kind of which created by Mesut Ozil and Ilkay Gundogan’s photos with Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
