Jermaine Dupri to celebrate So So Def’s 25th anniversary with a compilation album.
Jermaine Dupri’s contributions to hip hop are endless. He’s been in the music industry since the early 90’s and has been a pivotal force in Atlanta’s music scene. The rapper launched So So Def Records in 1993 which became homes to the likes of Lil Bow Bow (before he dropped the “lil”) to Xscape and more. After 25 years in the game with So So Def, Jermaine Dupri has plans of celebrating it with his supporters and music fans alike.Jermaine Dupri is gearing up to celebrate the 25th anniversary of So So Def this summer and with that, they’ll be releasing So So Def 25 compilation album through Sony Music Entertainment’s Legacy Recordings/Certified Classics division, Billboard reports. The project will feature a blend of their hit singles, fan favorites and popular remixes they have in their catalog. The project is set to be released as a digital album as well as 12″ vinyl collector’s edition for the die-hards.
In a statement, Jermaine Dupri said, “I’ve been dreaming of getting to this point since my very first release.”
In addition to the compilation, Legacy also plans on putting out more exclusive digital content as well as releasing 12″ re-issues of select songs from their catalog. Jermaine Dupri also has plans on bringing an all-star cast together for a So So Def tour but they’ve yet to fully confirm details on that.
Jermaine Dupri has a lot to celebrate this year. He’ll be inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in June and is set to receive the Breaking Barriers award at the Global Spin Awards this week. He’ll also be given the 2018 Legendary Awards Trailerblazer Award in March.
